Dr. Davidson, MS, DACVS

Board Certified in Small Animal Surgery

Dr. Charisse Davidson is a Board Certified Small Animal Surgeon. She grew up in California and earned her veterinary degree from the University of California at Davis in 1996 and a Master’s Degree in 1998. She worked in San Diego as a General Practitioner in a mixed small animal and exotic practice for 4 year before pursuing specialty certification in small animal surgery. In 2001, Dr. Davidson completed a Surgical Internship at the Animal Specialty and Emergency Center in Los Angeles and thereafter an American College of Veterinary Surgeons approved residency program at VetSurg, Inc. in 2004. During her residency, Dr. Davidson had the opportunity to work under some of the most accomplished surgeons in the United States in the fields of Orthopedics, Surgical Oncology and Surgical Neurology. She refined her skills in Surgical Oncology studying at both the Colorado State University Animal Cancer Center and at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Virginia. Dr. Davidson advanced her skills in Neurosurgery studying under Dr. Levasque at the Veterinary Neurology Center in Nevada. She also studied Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she focused on advanced techniques in pain control. While living in California, Dr. Davidson founded two specialty clinics in the Los Angeles area: CM Surgical Group, a boutique small animal surgical specialty hospital and Veterinary Specialists of the Valley, a state-of-the-art multiple specialty hospital with CT and MRI on site. Dr. Davidson sold her interest in both hospitals to move to a smaller town in Texas with her family as she and her husband wanted to raise their children in a more family oriented community. Dr. Davidson's professional interests include orthopedics and fracture repair, surgical oncology, neurosurgery and pain management. She has been TPLO certified since 2002 and is also certified in Penn HIP evaluation. She has authored publications in both orthopedics and pain management as well as authored textbook chapters in small animal orthopedics and avian medicine.

 

When not working, Dr. Davidson spends her time with her husband, four children, their dogs chocolate lab, Liberty and Golden Retriever-Great Pyrenees mix, Corcky, their miniature donkeys, Key-Donk and Sophie and goats, Moni-me and Goat-T. They enjoy camping, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding and spending time outdoors. Dr. Davidson is looking forward to bring specialty care to your family practice and getting to know you and your loved pets!


Dr. Traxler

Staff Surgeon

Dr. Harold Traxler received his degree in veterinary medicine from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003.  He attended LSU for his undergraduate work and held a job at the LSU vet school in the pharmacology department working on horses.  In 1999 Dr. Traxler graduated from LSU with a BS in Animal Science.
After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Traxler worked at an equine practice in Sunset, LA before moving to Denham Springs, LA and working at a mixed animal practice in 2004.   It was here that Dr. Traxler developed his interest in small animal surgery and began performing orthopedic procedures. He then moved to Hanover, PA and worked at a small animal emergency clinic in Westminster, MD.


In 2010, Dr. Traxler started his first surgical internship at New York Veterinary Specialty Center in Farmingdale, NY with Dr. Alan Carb and Dr. Arnie Lesser.  The following year, a second surgical internship was completed at Hollywood Animal Hospital in Hollywood, FL under Dr. Jon Dee.  He then started his surgical residency at Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists with Dr. Robert Roy. 
Dr. Traxler has been in general practice in the DFW area since 2013 when he moved to Frisco to be with his daughters and where he met his wife, Stephanie.  During that time he continued to pursue his interests in surgery and orthopedics through his continuing education.
Dr. Traxler is a member of the AVMA and the TVMA.  He and his wife stay busy keeping up with their 7 kids and coaching his daughters' soccer teams.  River, the family cat and Gumbeaux, the family silver lab, help keep an eye on everyone. 


When Dr. Traxler does have free time he enjoys being outdoors, fishing with his kids or hiking in the mountains.



Dr. Nonnenmacher, CCRT

Staff Surgeon

Dr. Nonnenmacher grew up in a military family Northern Virginia but migrated south after high school to attend Auburn University. There she majored in Animal and Dairy Sciences and spent her summers working in the Virology and Anatomy labs at the Veterinary school. She then continued to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating Cum Laude in 2009.  Her love of orthopedics, neurology, and sports medicine sparked her interest and drive to pursue advanced training certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2013.

 

Dr. Nonnenmacher practiced in General and Emergency Medicine at a large 24-hour facility in Mobile, AL for 7 1/2 years before relocating to Dallas in 2017.  She has been in general practice in the DFW area since then, with her professional interests being in orthopedics, soft tissue surgery, pain management, regenerative medicine, and physical rehabilitation to improve the post-operative recovery and quality of life for her patients. In 2019 she began working to start Valley Ranch Pet Rehabilitation in Irving.  Dr. Nonnenmacher is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians.

 

When not working with patients, Dr. Nonnenmacher enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 sons. Her favorite thing to do is watch her boys play baseball, but also loves traveling, crafting, personal fitness, and all things Disney/Marvel.  She has 3 fur babies of her own, two senior Dachshunds, Oliver and Izzie, and a yellow Labrador, Nellie, who all keep her on her toes!!
